Hemp for Health!
No doubt you have heard a lot about hemp and CBD lately. Hemp is the common name for plants in the Cannabis genus, which also includes the plants that produce marijuana and hashish. All the cannabis plants contain similar chemicals (cannabinols, terpenes, etc), but in different amounts. The plants that are produced for marijuana and hashish are cultivated to have high levels of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the chemical that causes a psychoactive effect (feeling high). Hemp, however, has relatively low levels of THC so there is no high feeling from consuming hemp derived products. By law, hemp products in the U.S. must contain no more than 0.3% THC. (Compare this to the up to 30% THC one might find in marijuana strains of cannabis.) In addition to industrial use of its fibers and dietary use of its seeds, hemp is processed to extract cannabidiol (CBD).
Scientific studies have shown hemp oil, and CBD specifically, can help a variety of health problems such as:
- Seizures Disorders
- Anxiety
- Migraines
- Sleep Problems
- PTSD
- Pain
